Hello and welcome to the About Me page, which is basically where I tell you a bit about myself, how I got started writing, things I like to do, etc. I'll try to make it as interesting as possible. I'll try not to make it sound as though you are reading an instruction booklet. :-)

Well, first off I started writing when I was about 9 years old, I think. At least that's the earliest proof I have of my wanting to write books. I used to pen these cute little children's books, generally about horses since I was horse-obsessed (**and still am). I would draw pictures and add little stories. I formatted them like a picture book, stapling the pages together and even sometimes titling them as a publishing company would.

Okay, I admit it... In school I was a bit of a slacker. Instead of listening to the teacher I would often sit in the back of the class and write stories and draw pictures. I probably shouldn't admit this, but I even once remember drawing a Pegasus on the desk! (I wonder if that desk is still around?) Well, I had drawn it in pencil so chances are that drawing was long gone anyhow.

That was really the start of it all. When I was 15, I wrote a short story about a rock star (Yes, I was also rock-star obsessed) who got caught up in a wild adventure where he was actually kidnapped by some being that was behind his mirror... real Twilight Zone type stuff. As I got older, I started thinking "Hmmm this would make an interesting novel if I expanded it a bit." But I didn't write it straight away. It took years and lots of letting it mill about in my brain before I finally sat down and wrote it.
That book became Beyond Every Mirror, (which is now out of print...updated 2007). For updates on me, check out my personal blog... http://christinechurch.blogspot.com.

I also write nonfiction. I got involved in that first, actually--publishing-wise anyway. I had always wanted to write fiction, so I took a course at a local college on how to get published. It turned out the class consisted of all non-fiction writers, including the teacher. I was the only fiction writer. I was encouraged through that class to try my hand at writing non-fiction. "Write about something you know a lot about," I was told. Well, at the time there was really only one thing I knew a lot about or had any interest in writing non-fiction about, and that was cats (still horse-obsessed, but didn't own a horse at that time)! So I tried my hand at writing about cats. Oh, I had a few small articles published in newsletters, but eventually I wrote a book. It took several years, lots of perseverance and in the end a mass amount of luck, but my first published book (through Howell Book House/Wiley) was a hardcover called Housecat; How to Keep Your Indoor Cat Sane and Sound. This book is out of print now, but the Revised Edition (by the same publisher)  is available for purchase.  The publisher is even offering it as an easily available e-book.

2006... House Cat, Revised, has been translated to Russian and is available in Russia as well as all English speaking countries.

My other award winning book is called Indoor Cats, and that one is available through the publisher (TFH Publications) or Amazon.com.

I also have another cat book out (also through TFH) called Your Outta Control Cat.
It is also available at Amazon.com, the book store or the publisher.

That's about it for now.... I have a few other projects in the works.
As an actress, I am getting more and more involved. I love acting and always have. The problem is that I grew up with a severe emotional disability (bipolar/manic depressive, agoraphobic and A.D.D. ... how's that for messed up?)   But in 2004 I got help, a lot of it, and now thanks to the help I received I am able to travel and do things I never could before. So, as I travel to NYC, Boston and many other places for auditions, I am building my resume and credentials in my other favorite field (besides writing); acting! I am happiest when I am acting. I am pretty good, I think... my problem is getting through auditions. LOL  I know it is a necessary "evil" but I always seem to get so nervous. Yet, once I am in a role, I become the character and all my inhibitions fade and I can really do it.  My writing and acting work well together as I like to act out the scenes I write (which would look odd to a casual observer... fortunately I have none as I am usually alone when I write).
